Is a Submersible Pump Ideal For A Garden Pond?

Did you know that ponds help preserve the environment? You may not realize, but by implementing a pond in a section of your lawn, you are conserving energy, hence saving money and preserving the environment in the process. Reduce stress that takes place in your life with a pond that has duo purposes. In addition, help your water flow with a pond pump that will filter water and keep the earth clean.

Pond pumps are important water pumps that are used to filter water in garden ponds. They are also used in fountains and similar water sources in a garden area or front yard. Pond pumps are important to ensure that the water is flowing in the pond and that there is no stagnancy which can result in dirt and dust accumulating at the water surface. This can in turn result in various water-borne diseases. Therefore, one needs to use these types of pumps for their ponds.

Pond pumps are generally of two basic types. One is known as submersible pond pumps that are placed inside the pond; whereas, the other pump is called external pumps. External pumps are generally placed outside the pond. They are considered more efficient than their submersible variants. One can find the external pumps in common usage. This is more because of the small size of the garden ponds. If you have a small pond in the garden, then there are chances that a submersible pump might not be able to fit in a pond. In this case, you need to use an external pump for your pond.

The use of submersible pond pumps is seen in ponds that a bigger size than the ones using external pumps. Such ponds can easily have a submersible pump placed at their bottom without it occupying a lot of space. The best part about these pumps is that they can be easily installed. Whereas, in case of external pumps, one has to find proper installation and safety checks to ensure that the external pump does not block the way or result in any mishaps.

Submersible pumps are considered better than even jet pumps. They push the fluid or water towards the surface of the pond. This phenomenon is an opposite of the work carried out by jet pumps. The water pushed to the surface by the submersible pumps gives a brilliant effect of water pumped out and it looks like a mini-fountain. One also gets to see the flowing water in the pond that does not remain stagnant.

Therefore, if you are planning to use a pond pump in order to have flowing water in your garden pond, then you can consider a submersible pump as a better option. Though it is not as efficient as an external pump, it is much safer and is also easier to install than any other pump in the garden area. Preserve water and help cut back on costs with a nice looking pond and pond pump that will help the water flow in your garden area.

A Clear Simple and Precise Tree Survey

Trees, as well as the development relationship to them, have often been controversial and points of concern with many applications. The submission of applications requirements stipulate that trees should be plotted on plans of application where development proposals may affect them. The established British Standards for positioning and construction of trees should be taken into account by the developers when designing as well as positioning extensions or new buildings. More often, these developers do not adhere to these standards leading to application or submission amendments. This will delay the determination of a proposal.

A survey for impact on trees assessment ensures that there is successful integration and retention of trees into developments whether large scale or small scale. Tree survey and information is required where there are trees within the location of an application site or on land that is adjacent, which may have an influence on the development. Surveying encompasses incorporation of arboricultural as well as ecological consultancy in order to provide tree owners and land managers with the complete services as required. It involves assessing ecological considerations among them the potential availability or presence of endangered and protected species like the bats, badgers or birds. A detailed climbed inspection for bats and the other species is recommended where it is required. This can be undertaken by the professional tree climbing personnel issued with the licenses for the latest bat handling disturbances agencies.

A survey for impact on trees must be done in case a building or earthworks have been proposed within a range of 15 metres from the tree base. Other inclusions that require survey for impact assessment include the storage of equipment and materials, digging of service trenches and also site access using heavy machinery. A lot of data will be needed within the 15m area concerning the trees that should be retained as well as the reasons as to why the retained tree are more important than the others that will have to be felled. A clear proof of why the retained trees will not be affected adversely by the new development should be provided too. Furthermore, an explanation of how to protect these trees against the construction impacts should be given by a qualified and suitable arboriculturist. During tree surveys for impact, consultants may recommend that a climbed inspection be carried out to ascertain the risk level in a particular feature or branch in case the structural defects are not clearly visible from the ground. This enables the surveyors investigate or examine the features at close quarters.

A safety survey for impact on trees should provide the land managers and owners of the trees with a response that is professional with regard to the issue of the liability associated with ownership of trees. The survey must be conducted with a detailed safety assessment of each individual tree in the urban centres, public open spaces, estates, large woodlands etc. The survey should use the best methodologies that suit the clients to provide a defensible approach for tree management in terms of liabilities and risks. The report data must be presented in a range of formats such as tabulation in a clear but simple reporting to help in design and decision making. Also, tree surveyors, must be backed up with extensive planning system experience as well as the CAD mapping and precise reporting. They should as well work closely with planners, engineers, architects and tree officers. For further more information you can check this website.

Going Green

Going Green

It’s not always easy to make the big changes in your life, especially when you have a family to consider, but if you start off small and work your way up; you’ll find it easier to make some really positive changes. Help yourself and the environment by following this simple guide to Going Green:

In The Home

Smaller changes can make a big difference to your home and the environment – some of which you probably know and some of which you might not. Change your light bulbs for energy efficient ones, switch off TVs from standby mode when you’re not using them, start using bags for life when you shop – these are all simple tips that can really make a fantastic difference.

In The Office

First of all, get rid of those disposable plastic cups that you find in virtually every office. They are very bad for the environment and make a lot of unnecessary waste. Instead, get yourself some nice mugs and ceramic cups and simply rinse them out once you’re done. It makes far less mess and it can make a bigger difference to your mood if you have a bright and cheery mug on your desk, rather than a bland plastic cup.

In the garden

Compost bins are brilliant if you have a garden and really help to cut down on household waste. Food scrapings, peeling, teabags and even hair can be put onto your compost bin and once it has turned to mulch, you can use it on your flowers and plants. Many councils offer compost bins at a discount, or visit your local garden centre instead.

In your lifestyle

Learning to stretch your legs and take a walk instead of driving not only improves your wallet but your lifestyle as well. With our hectic lives, it can be hard to find time to exercise and get some fresh air, so why not combine your daily activities with a walk or bike ride? Cycle to work, walk to the shops or simply talk a family stroll around your local park. Join in with local groups and organisations, such as Bruderhof, and find out more about activities that can make a big difference to you and your environment.

In your budget

Buying your household items, such as paper towels and groceries, in bulk can cost you less and save on wasteful packaging. There are many outlet stores across the country that offer discount for buying large quantities which is ideal for non-perishable items. The other idea is to only buy what you need – fruit and veg will go off eventually and, although it can be good for your compost bin, it is a waste of money buying more than you need. Alternatively, why not try growing you own veg at home?

Natural Ways to Help with Depression and Anxiety

In recent history, many more studies have been conducted about mental health. Prescription drugs as treatment for Depression and Anxiety are a controversial topic. Some have benefited greatly from their effects and have gained a sense of their former life back. Others have complained of the side-effects of the supplements. While you should consult your doctor before taking any type of medication (or going off of any medication), you may not be aware of some of the more natural treatments available to you.

Omega-3 and Multivitamins
Omega-3 is a fantastic supplement that has been shown to do a variety of things, including helping your brain communicate better with your body. Many individuals have reported that Omega-3 has helped ease their Depression and Anxiety when taken in the appropriate dosage on a consistent basis. Study your normal diet on a consistent basis and make sure that your body is getting the proper nutrition it needs. Your mood is greatly affected by the nutrients you’re feeding (or not feeding) to your body. Talk to your doctor about whether or not supplements would be beneficial to you. Be sure to choose a good source for purchasing your supplements. One great and convenient place to buy Omega-3 and other Multivitamins is through the website Seven Seas.

Seven Seas are renowned for very high quality multivitamins. The website is easy to navigate and informative, and the clear explanations for the importance of each product make all the verbiage straightforward and understandable -- especially for anyone who may have concerns about taking a supplement they've never taken before. Though it may seem like all vitamin brands are alike, you do want to be careful about what brands you're putting in your body -- higher quality brands will maximize the effects of the vitamins. Seven Seas has great products.

Eat Well -- and Often
When your body gets hungry or goes into starvation mode, it’s not difficult to observe that you become tired and irritable. What you might not realize is that hunger also affects your mood. If you are extremely hungry, your hunger can trigger Anxiety. To keep your body from going into deep swings, be sure to keep your metabolism up. Choose healthy snacks such as fruits and vegetables to nibble throughout the day.

Physical and Mental Exercise
Regular exercise helps your circulation and can brighten your mood. In addition to the physical benefits, it also greatly helps your mental health. It will give your head a chance to clear, and the sunshine, cool breezes, and fresh air can help divert your mind from cares and worries, so you can find your center. Journaling can also help you find your center. Take some time each evening or every other evening to write out the things in your head. You don’t have to write in complete sentences or even make any sense -- you’re the only one who will see it. If you need to, just write out bulleted lists to get your cares outside yourself. Journaling can help you sleep better, which will also help you recover from Depression or Anxiety.

PaigeOne looks forward to writing and being honest about a variety of subjects, from fashion to health.

Sweet Easter Greetings – Making Your Home Hop with Happiness

With Easter just around the corner it’s time to hop to it and get out your last-minute Easter decorations. If you’ve already decorated your home that’s wonderful, but there are always last minute decorations to consider, even eco-friendly ones! Double-check and make sure your Easter eggs are set out; you have pretty spring tableware that’s ready for guest to arrive and flowers that are placed in every bedroom. There are also plenty of homemade ideas that will brighten up your home as well — here are some thoughts on how you can make your home glow with spring time happiness.

Bunny Rabbit Napkins – Be creative and set out fabric patterned napkins at your formal dining table before company arrives on Easter. This is a simple yet charming touch for your dining room. However, just don’t set normal napkins, but make them into rabbit-shaped napkins that will only require a few folding techniques. Get on the Internet for specific instructions. If you are in need of some new fabric napkins use Lakeside collection coupons to help you save on spring time home décor, accessories and more. Your guests will love the nice touch that’s added to a classic table setting.

Eggshell Flower Displays – Dispersing flowers throughout your home will make your interiors glow and you’ll feel happier each time you set foot in the rooms. Bring your flower arranging skills one step further by placing the flowers in cracked egg shells that are then placed in eggcups. To be this creative you first need hollowed-out eggshells, so break a smaller part of the shell and rinse it out to make sure all of the egg remnants are gone. Don’t waste the actual egg though — it’s a good idea to time everything right and get your egg shells when you plan on making scrambled eggs. Now place beautiful lilacs and other favorite flowers in the recycled egg shells and then place the egg shells in your eggcups. You now have a beautiful flower display for Easter!

Patterned Bowls with Easter Eggs – If you’ve used coupons to help you purchase some pretty patterned bowls to place on your kitchen counters, then perhaps you should add some Easter eggs or fruit to your bowls. Stick with a sweet spring time theme and match your patterned bowls to fun tie-dyed eggs. This simple touch will make your kitchen inviting and you will be ready to enjoy Easter to the fullest. Spring is here and the weather will continue to warm up and there’s no doubt your home will look extra sweet for spring.

About the Author: Corinne loves the spring time. She can’t wait to decorate with last minute decorations for Easter.

How to Cleanse and Heal Your Body with Spices and Plant Extracts

People have been doing total body cleanses for centuries to rid their bodies of the build-up of toxins. Toxins are in everything around us and most of what we consume; they exist in our environment in the air we breathe, unfiltered water we drink, foods packaged, processed, or produced with pesticides that we eat, and the chemicals and medications that we ingest. It doesn’t hurt to detox every once and a while and eliminate the toxins that have built up in your blood and liver over time.

Cleansing with Plant Extracts:

Milk thistle, thistle of the genus Silybum and daisy family Asteraceae, can be used to treat some liver ailments including hepatitis, cirrhosis, damage caused by toxins, and some gallbladder disorders. The extract of milk thistle has been recognized for many centuries as a “liver tonic” that can both prevent and repair damage to the liver caused by toxic chemicals and medications. Milk thistle can even lower cholesterol levels and reduce the growth of cancer cells in breast, prostate, and cervical cancers. The extract of milk thistle can be taken in the form of a capsule and be purchased online.

Cleansing and Healing with Spices:

Throughout history, spices have perpetuated trade, insighted exploration, and started wars for a reason: spices preserve and flavor food and have medicinal properties. Historians estimate that cinnamon has been used to treat diseases as far back in time as the Ancient Egyptians. Cinnamon aids in digestion and helps lower blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglycerides.

There are other spices that have healing properties as well:

  • Cayenne - Cayenne’s healing properties originate from its heat which comes from capsaicin. Capsaicin has been proven to prevent sinus infections, act as an anti-inflammatory, kill cancer cells, and ease the pain of ulcers.
  • Cloves - Cloves are powerful in the fight against bacteria and fungi. Cloves can kill intestinal parasites and be used to treat diarrhea, ringworm, hernias, and even toothaches.
  • Ginger - Ginger is another popular spice known for its ability to heal gastrointestinal ailments. Ginger helps alleviate morning sickness, nausea, indigestion, gas pains, diarrhea and stomach cramps. Ginger is diaphoretic and therefore makes you sweat. Because of ginger’s diaphoretic properties, it is often used to treat fevers. It stimulates the cirulation of the blood, helping to rid blood of toxins and loosen phlegm from the lungs to help treat asthma and bronchitis.
  • Tumeric - Tumeric, a close relative of ginger, can be used on cuts and wounds because it is an antiseptic and an antibacterial. Tumeric also helps detox the liver and has anti-inflammatory properties that help treat the symptoms of arthritis.

Use some of these wonderful spies to cleanse your system during any season. Since it is currently winter for most of us, spices are an excellent way to keep your body healthy and strong. Detox your body during the winter and you’ll be ready for spring to arrive!

The Eco-Friendly Future of Chrysler Cars

One of the latest companies to jump onto the “green” bandwagon, Chrysler and their parent company Fiat have been working together to develop a few new models which will not only get better fuel economy, but will also run on different types of fuels such as compressed natural gas (CNG). Although these are still down the road, Chrysler is already producing a vehicle which many wouldn’t have expected to be considered green or efficient: The Chrysler 300. Chrysler is also working on their first line of fuel-efficient and powerful diesel engines, which will be running under the “EcoDiesel” brand name.
The Chrysler 300: Luxury Sedan Turned Green Machine
In the past, luxury sedans have often been considered gas-guzzlers that were only driven by those who could afford to fuel them. Although this is still often the case, many companies have begun to integrate green and fuel-efficient technologies into their sedans. Chrysler is one of the most prominent of these companies, having just recently released the overhauled and modernized version of the Chrysler 300, their flagship luxury sedan.
The car, however, doesn’t just offer a contemporary departure from previous models: It also offers an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 31 mpg. This, along with a high-performing 3.6L Penstar V6 engine and a 5-star safety rating, has given the Chrysler 300 a place on Roadfly’s list of the 10 Best Green Cars of 2012.
The Chrysler 300 has also earned numerous other awards and distinctions, and was also named one of the 10 Best Family Cars of 2012 by Kelley Blue Book®.
Running on Fumes… Literally! The Natural-Gas Powered Chrysler Ram 2500 CNG
Although it’s still the most widely-used, gasoline isn’t the only fuel source available. In fact, Chrysler and Fiat have joined forces to develop a new pickup truck which will not only deliver nearly 500 pound-feet of torque, but will also have the ability to run entirely on one of the most readily-available fuels in the world: Compressed natural gas (CNG).
For Chrysler’s parent company Fiat, however, this is far from a first. Over the past five years they’ve developed numerous CNG systems for their own cars, and own about 80 percent of Europe’s market share in the industry. In fact, between 1997 and 2011, they sold nearly 500,000 CNG-powered cars!
In contrast to Fiat’s models, however, the Ram 2500 CNG will be a large pickup comparable to the existing Ram. The 18.2-gallon CNG tank located near the front of the frame will give the truck a range of 255 miles; pretty good for a large truck running on a fuel that usually costs about a dollar less per gallon than gasoline!
Although there are 1,500 CNG fueling stations scattered around the United States, the Ram will also feature an eight-gallon gas tank that will give it an extra range of 112 miles. That way, the truck will automatically convert to gasoline whenever CNG tank runs dry.
Unlike many other alternative fuel sources, this one is right around the corner: Chrysler will begin delivery in the summer of 2012.
The Diesel Alternative
Chrysler will also be producing several diesel-powered models under the new “EcoDiesel” line. Jointly developed by Fiat, the models will run on a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine delivering 241 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. As with most diesel engines, the EcoDiesel line will have an excellent fuel economy of 23 mph in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
Although they will not be released until the 2014 model year, Chrysler has considered shortening the 2013 model year to allow the new line to be released as early as January of 2013.
You Too Can Have New Technology
At Lou Fusz Chysler, Dodge, and Jeep Dealership here in O’Fallon, Missouri, we not only sell the latest fuel-efficient Chrysler 300s, but will also be keeping a close eye on the releases of the Ram 2500 CNG and the EcoDiesel Line so that you too can experience the power and efficiency of green technology!

Dividing Jobs

The article written by Victor Flowers

My husband and I have divided up responsibilities, and that is how we have our house running so smoothly. I am in charge of cooking 3 nights a week, while he cooks 4 nights a week. Whoever doesn’t cook, cleans that night. I do the grocery shopping because I enjoy it, and he pays all the bills. I research our options for services, like on http://www.ExpertSatellite.com/ and such, and give him a summary of what I’ve found. He’s in charge of the yard work, and I am in charge of watering the flowers. He washes and dries all the clothes, but I fold and put them all away. I mop. He vacuums. I collect all the household trash, and he takes it out to the curb, and brings it back every week. I dust and straighten. He makes repairs. This may seem complicated and a strange way of doing things, but it works for us. This way, we don’t have to spend time arguing about who does what because it has all already been decided.

Internet and phone to bundle or not?

Authored by Rickey Combs
These days with everyone running around with a mobile phone in their pockets it is hard to justify paying money for a normal, stationary home phone. I have gone back and forth about it. I have children so it important for them to know where the phone is in case of emergency. The kids don’t have cell phones for obvious reasons so it makes sense to have at least one home phone for them to use. When I started looking at pricing for phones I found that every company out there wants you to bundle all of their services together so you get sucked in to their company and save money at the same time. I am not quite sold on the whole bundling thing until I ran across this Long Island T1 site which actually made packages and bundles that make sense. They can give you internet access as well as home phone access via voice over IP. I finally found a company that can give me a decent price and two of the things that I would have already needed anyways.

Fear

I appreciate the guest post, Emerson Moses
What is with the news these days? Has it always been this way and I’m just slow to notice? It seems like they are literally trying to scare you to death with these worse case scenarios! I turn on my direct Tv, and flip through the channels and what do I see? There’s 20/20: “next, find out about the deadly bacteria that is all over your house.” Then Anderson Cooper tells me: “Think your children are safe at school? Think again.” Nancy Grace screams at me, reminding me how everyone is a likely pedophile. Meanwhile, I’ve got FOX news telling me that the government is going to hell in a hand basket, and that I should be beyond concerned. I mean, really!? Are things really all that bad? I think as a culture we have gotten so fearful, and about the wrong things! We are even scared of being scared! (There was actually a segment on the View last week about how anxiety, even normal amounts, can shorten your lifespan) Enough is enough already!

Great Games

Guest written by our friend Solomon Thompson
I love that there are so many great games on all the time this year that I can have my friends over to watch with me at my house. I think it’s hilarious all my friends watch more football than they do baseball but you know, at the end of the day if you like sports, you’re a friend of mine. I recently got Dish TV S Carolina at home to go along with my huge backyard grill which has made it easier than ever for me to have huge parties. It’s been a lot of fun having all my friends over for beers and cookouts but since it’s winter now I’m really looking forward to spring when I can finally get rolling with some great new parties. I can’t wait to show everyone my awesome new flatscreen TV that is weatherproof – it lives outside on the patio which makes it the ultimate party porch! I can’t wait to host my big first party which is going to be amazing.

Current Deal of the Day: Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces

WHAT IS AN AMBER TEETHING NECKLACE?

A Baltic amber teething necklace is made for wearing (not chewing) when a baby is teething. The warmth from the skin releases the active ingredient in the Baltic amber, succinic acid. Recent scientific research has proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the human body. It improves immunity and the balance of acids when absorbed into the bloodstream; it stimulates the thyroid glands to help reduce drooling and soothes red inflamed cheeks. Amber's anti-inflammatory and therapeutic properties are recognized by allopathic medicine as a natural analgesic, which will help to relieve teething pain and calm a baby without resorting to drugs. The skin's warmth releases healing oils from the amber, a resin, which is absorbed into the bloodstream.
Parent supervision is recommended at all times.

Thank you,
Audrey Marandino

HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE

Thanks for the guest post by Jo Levy

I was looking at information on http://www.homesecurity101.com/  when a show on television caught my eye. It was an older movie and seemed familiar, but I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was at first, until saw Marilyn Monroe in a stunning wine colored satin gown. Then I knew immediately what movie it was. I hadn’t seen it since I was a really little girl. It was “How to Marry a Millionaire”. I ended up stopping what I was doing and watching it. It was a cute movie, but it made me think about how times were so different when the movie came out. The story line is about three fashion models in New York. They rent a high dollar apartment and set out to meet men that have a lot of money, “millionaires” for that. One of the girls doesn’t even care that one of the men that she is chasing is married. Although the topic is old-fashioned, I love the movie. I love the costumes and the actresses. I especially love Marilyn and could watch any movie that she is in.

Masters Week

Guest post written by Kevin Beach
During one full week in April, I might as well come to terms with the fact I will not see or hear from my boyfriend. Ever since he went to http://www.expertsatellite.com/direct-tv/direct-tv-mooresville-north-carolina.html to include the Masters Week channel, his two eyes are glued to the television screen for hours upon hours. Although I do enjoy golf and believe it is the perfect thing to watch when taking a nap, the intensity behind the Masters takes things to another level. With the Masters channel, you can track each player and watch the performance live from every hole. This provides entertainment for days and leads to lots of abrupt cheering. I have decided that one year in the future, I would like to attend the actual event in order to grasp this legendary golf championship. But for now, I will have to learn and enjoy the game through watching on the television in order to spend time with my boyfriend and actually gain some knowledge on the sport itself. Who knows, watching the sport on television might inspire me to take somelessons and join the guys out there for a game of golf!
